Last week I joined a Western astrology forum (at skyscript.co.uk ), and they terminated my account after one week.
My crime?.. Presenting a new idea and standing with it.
The article I posted was the piece I brought recently about astro directions , and since it is based mainly on Western astrology I thought it would be of interest to them. It was for the members…, but not for the moderators and the owner of the place. They complained that it is insulting to the traditional astrologers, and on that basis they blocked me out.
It is always interesting when an idea gets opposed so strongly. Why does that happen?
There are a few common reasons.
The owner of the forum is somebody who teaches and writes books. If my new idea has merit and gets some people interested, then she has nothing to win by it and everything to lose. If you bring a new idea somewhere and it turns out to be good, then this can mean some loss of face for the other ‘experts’ in the field.
This dynamic does not only exist in Chinese and Western astrology. Also in academic circles there can be problems of that nature.
That’s why Schopenhauer pointed out:
"All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident."
So it can be a good omen if an idea is opposed strongly.
When joining forums, be careful. If you ask questions they will happily shower you with theory and quotes from old books. If you bring your own ideas you may not meet with much sympathy.
It is a natural thing.
